Ruth Leonard: Recent Work

The Nicole Fiacco Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of recent paintings and works on paper by Ruth Leonard.  The exhibition is the artist’s first with the gallery.

Ruth Leonard’s paintings are of landscapes and still lifes that are as beautiful as they are idiosyncratic.  Rather than simply describing a particular place or set of objects, Leonard instead asks us to consider the idea of a place, or the emotional composition of a set of objects.  Leonard’s paintings have a dreamlike sensibility, allowing an intimate glimpse into the artist’s unique perspective on the world around her.

Leonard’s paintings and works on paper have heavily worked surfaces with generous use of mediums.  Bold color is integral to Leonard’s work and the use of very sensual color suggests more about emotion than it does about color found in nature.

Ruth Leonard has exhibited her work in New York City, the Hudson Valley and Detroit, MI.
In 2003, Leonard was selected by painter Jake Berthot to be in Out of the Studio, Hudson Valley Artists, at the Samuel Dorsky Museum, New Paltz, NY.

Leonard lives and works in the Hudson Valley.
